You Mad, Bro? Yankees Fans Turn Their Backs on Juan Soto in Mets Uniform
I love being right.
After I made a Reddit post saying that—despite not liking the Yankees—I still hoped Oswaldo Cabrera had a speedy recovery, Yankees fans cried so hard that the Baseball subreddit took the post down. You’d think I kicked over Monument Park. Sensitive much, pinstripe nation?
Fast forward less than a week, and Yankees fans at a home game against the Mets literally turned their backs as Juan Soto took the field in a Mets uniform.
To quote a legendary Seattle athlete: You mad, bro?
Let’s get real: Soto didn’t betray the Yankees. He wasn’t a lifelong Bomber who jumped ship. He played one season, helped get you to a World Series appearance, and then left when your front office got cheap. You think the Mets stole him? Nah. The Yankees let him walk.
All Soto asked for was a suite at Yankee Stadium so his family could watch him play. That’s it. The Mets said yes. The Yankees said no. And now he plays for the other team in New York. Stop being so sensi, Yankees fans.
