As the walls close in on Browns Head Coach Todd Monken, yes we got here fast, there’s a reality that teams like the Browns have to face. Good coaches won’t coach for you.
Why come to a team with an overly involved owner who is going to cripple the GM and the Head Coach beneath him? I’m not saying choosing to start Deshaun Watson was Owner Jimmy Haslam’s choice, though would it surprise anyone if it was?
But certain teams aren’t going to appeal to the best coaches. Especially for a coach that either has better options, or is highly coveted enough to think better opportunities will still be there a year from now.
As I was pondering this today, I came up with the best way to think about it. If Mike Tomlin wanted to coach again this year, and your team needed a Head Coach, would he do it?
This list is not based on anything credible or real. It is based on the lone opinions of one idiot that thinks about football way too much. Do with that information what you will.
