If Kyler Murray Can’t Win in Minnesota, He Can’t Win Anywhere
I always thought Kyler Murray was an average quarterback. He’s fast, can throw a great spiral, and is an accurate passer, but his height always held him back. Kyler’s height is listed as 5’ 10” while the average offensive lineman height is 6’ 5”. Fun fact; when I looked that up, Google AI included an image of Kyler Murray next to an offensive lineman.
Clearly there are General Manager’s in the league that aren’t as concerned about Murray’s height as I am. Today the Vikings signed Kyler Murray to a one-year-deal. The Vikings will pay $1.3 Million of the $36.8 Million the Cardinals guaranteed to Murray for this season.
Murray will compete with J.J. McCarthy for the starting job, and that part matters. McCarthy was inconsistent in 2025 and has already dealt with injury early in his career, but Murray’s own injury history isn’t exactly reassuring either. He played just five games last season before a foot injury ended his year.
Still, if there was ever a place for Kyler Murray to revive his career, this is it. Justin Jefferson. Jordan Addison. T.J. Hockenson. Kevin O’Connell calling plays. A cheap one-year prove-it deal. This is the best situation Murray has ever walked into as an NFL quarterback. So if Kyler Murray can’t win in Minnesota, then maybe he just can’t win anywhere.
