Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Tries to 'Tamper' with Jalen Ramsey… While They're on the Same Team...
Blaming the entire organization isn’t fair. But one thing’s clear: Tyreek Hill has no clue how tampering rules work.
While speaking to media at Fanatics Fest last week, Hill made a bold declaration about trying to keep star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in Miami — even if it means breaking the rules:
“I’m going to hang out with Ramsey,” Hill said. “I’m going to get him back, full-court press, I’m getting him, Ramsey, back in a Dolphins jersey. I don’t care what they say — it’s tampering, whatever, we need Ramsey.”
Tyreek…It’s not tampering if you’re talking to your own teammate. Ramsey is already under contract with the Dolphins for three more years. That’s not free agency — that’s just brunch with a coworker.
Even if Ramsey were a free agent, players are allowed to talk to other players all they want. There’s no penalty for saying “Come join us” over dinner. What matters is who’s making the official pitch — coaches, GMs, owners — and when they’re doing it.
That said… Tyreek’s confusion is kind of on brand for this team.
Let’s not forget — this is the same Dolphins organization that got nailed for tampering with Tom Brady, literally on a boat, while he was still with the Patriots. That incident cost them a first-round pick. Then last offseason, the Falcons were busted for speaking to Kirk Cousins directly during the legal tampering window — which only allows contact with agents, not the players themselves.
So while Tyreek may not understand the rules, at least he’s not breaking them this time. The real drama? The Dolphins are reportedly shopping Ramsey anyway. So even if Hill does convince him to stay… it might not be his decision to make.
