AJ Brown is so totally gone in 2 Months and 2 Weeks. Here’s why and where to…
AJ Brown hates the Eagles. That’s not exactly a secret. He’s wanted out since early in the 2025 season, even though it came just one year after Philadelphia won the Super Bowl.
He’s coming off his lowest receiving yardage total since 2021, and the rumor mill claims Brown doesn’t get along with quarterback Jalen Hurts. If the Eagles want to avoid an Antonio Brown-style meltdown, they’re eventually going to have to move the receiver…just not yet.
Per Spotrac, releasing Brown — even with a post-June 1 designation — would cost the Eagles more than $76 million in dead cap over the next two seasons. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman isn’t going to eat that kind of money just to get rid of a good player.
A post-June 1 trade, however, actually saves the Eagles about $7 million in 2026. That’s a move Roseman can justify.
The most likely outcome is pretty simple: AJ Brown gets traded shortly after June 1st. Brown still recorded 1,087 yards in 2025 despite the drama, which means his trade value remains extremely high.
Here are the five teams that make the most sense.
⸻
Seattle Seahawks
Wide receiver isn’t necessarily a need for Seattle, but adding a weapon like Brown could offset some of the moves the Rams have made this offseason — particularly upgrading at cornerback.
Seattle runs a pass-friendly offense, and giving Sam Darnold a receiving corps featuring Jaxon Smith-Njigba, AJ Brown, and Cooper Kupp would give the Seahawks enough firepower to make another Super Bowl run.
⸻
Green Bay Packers
The Packers lost Romeo Doubs in free agency a few weeks ago. Doubs will be playing for the New England Patriots in 2026.
Outside of Christian Watson, Green Bay’s receiving room suddenly looks thin. AJ Brown would instantly give Jordan Love a true No. 1 receiver — something the Packers have been missing since Davante Adams left.
⸻
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins lost Tyreek Hill to a season-ending leg injury midway through the 2025 season, and then released him earlier this offseason.
Jalen Waddle alone isn’t going to be enough for Malik Willis and the Dolphins offense to generate a dangerous passing attack in 2026. Willis needs another legitimate target, and AJ Brown would immediately become the best receiver on the roster.
⸻
New England Patriots
Yes, the Patriots already signed Romeo Doubs. (And yes, I know that — because I just wrote it.)
But Doubs alone isn’t enough to help Drake Maye repeat the success he had in 2025. AJ Brown would give the Patriots a legitimate 1-2 punch at receiver, something every successful modern offense needs.
⸻
Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert is hearing the noise in Los Angeles.
He’s entering his seventh NFL season and still has a 0-3 postseason record. Fair or not, that’s going to bring pressure.
The Chargers need to give Herbert a real weapon outside of an aging Keenan Allen and a solid but unspectacular Ladd McConkey. AJ Brown would instantly change the ceiling of that offense.
⸻
Bottom Line: The Eagles are trading AJ Brown. They’re just waiting until June 1st — when the financials finally make sense.
