Aaron Donald Could Regret Dream Team Rams
Aaron Donald was seen working out at the Rams practice facility on Friday, per TMZ. Reportedly Donald spent an hour on the field doing ladder drills, medicine ball throws, and agility work.
There’s been speculation about Donald returning to the NFL since the Rams traded for Myles Garrett, earlier this offseason.
Working out at the Rams facility certainly moves the needle on the likelihood of a return. Especially since Donald wasn’t just taking advantage of the Rams’ gym. He was doing drills on the field. Why bother with drills if you’re never planning to play again?
So Donald returning to the Rams appears to be more than just a pipedream. Here’s the thing. The more the Rams appear as a dream team, the more likely they’re in for disappointment.
Let me take you back to 2011 when backup quarterback Vince Young dubbed the Eagles as The Dream Team ahead of the season. Young gave them the nickname after he and Nnamdi Asomugha were added in free agency.
They had a solid roster - Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, and DeSean Jackson were a part of that team. They actually had a rookie Jason Kelce that year too. Sounds like a dream team. The dream quickly turned to a nightmare when they started the season 1-4 in route to an 8-8 season.
The Rams could be looking at something similar. Despite their roster appearing as good as anyone’s ahead of 2026, how this team meshes together has yet to be seen.
The Rams drafted Matthew Stafford’s eventual replacement in the first round. That could easily be something that causes friction in the locker room. Puka Nacua’s offseason has been spent in rehab and preparing for legal battles. Also, the Rams play in the brutal NFL West. Despite going 12-5 last season, they were a tiebreaker away from finishing third in the division.
Aaron Donald coming back could help them reach their second Super Bowl at home. The Rams could also be a first round exit, or worse.
Bottom line, we don’t know anything until they start playing the actual games. Even then - any team, any given Sunday.
